Congratulations to our Haepapa ePro 8 team members

Today the Year 5 ePro 8 teams competed in the annual competition.  We want to say a big congratulations to Aidan and Lejla, our Haepapa students (as well as Prya and Charlotte from Kahurangi) who participated today and came 4th!


We also want to congratulate the Year 6, 7 and 8 teams who did fantastically well and are into the finals!

Rataka o te Wiki: What's on this week - Week 9

Kia ora parents and whānau,
  • Parent Interviews are on this week (Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday).  We still have a few parents that have not booked in.  Bookings online have now closed but if you still wish to make a time for an interview, please don't hesitate to email your child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible so we can arrange a time.
  • Don't forget that swimming at Ashhurst is on tomorrow morning. 
  • Weekly homework is due in tomorrow (not the optional creative task) and we also have our library day tomorrow.
  • This week is a short week.  School will finish at 3pm on Thursday for the week and we will be back on Wednesday next week.  We hope you all have a lovely Easter Break and safe travels if you're heading away for the long weekend.

The Manawatu Gorge: Exploring Erosion

This week we have started three different STEM based units exploring ideas around water and its impact.  One group is looking at the Manawatu Gorge and the erosion and landslips caused by torrential rain and unstable ground.  Take a look at our experiments to create a model of how the erosion occurred...

  • YEAR 5 Competitive Swimming: A reminder that tomorrow those Year 5 students who had entered into competitive swimming sports will be heading to Ashhurst Pool in the morning to participate in their events.  All those students should be dressed in school uniform and have their togs with them.   You can find out if your child is entered in a competitive event here.
  • This Friday, weather permitting, is the senior wheels day for our Year 5 students.
  • We are starting mini STEM exploration units of learning this week.  Students will rotate over the next few weeks through 3 different themes around water.  Please take time to chat with your child about the new things they are exploring in their learning.

Rataka o te Wiki - What's on this week: Week 6

This week is a busy week with separate swimming sports for our Year 4 and 5 students.  Some things to remember this week:

  • Tomorrow we have swimming at Ashhurst.  Please make sure children have their togs, towel and goggles, if needed (Make sure all of these are named and in a bag).  
  • Tomorrow morning is our library day.
  • Homework is due back tomorrow.  Don't forget to come with your homework books.  Please note the optional creative task is due back on Tuesday 13 March.
  • YEAR 4 SWIMMING SPORTS: This is at Makino Pool from 9.30 - 11.30am (approximately).  Students should have togs on already with their school clothes over the top... they may wear their house t-shirts.  They should have their school hats and school shoes as well  - their school jersey or jacket is recommended in case they get cold between events.  Please make sure they have sunscreen on.  All students will leave from school at 9am and travel by bus so please make sure students are at school before 9am.  Mr Mildenhall will be accompanying our Year 4 students to this.
  • YEAR 5 SWIMMING SPORTS: All students should be dressed in school uniform.  All students should have their hats, sunscreen on and school shoes - their school jersey or jacket is recommended in case they get cold between events.   You can find out where students are entered - non-competitive or competitive.
    • COMPETITIVE SWIMMING SPORTS - FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO ENTER COMPETITIVE EVENTS:  Students will be at Makino Pool from 9am - 12pm (approximately).  Students should also bring a packed lunch and water bottle.  Students will leave at 9am from school so please ensure they are at school by 8.45am.  Ms Matangi will be accompanying our Year 5 students in competitive events to this. 
    • NON-COMPETITIVE SWIMMING SPORTS - FOR ALL OTHER YEAR 5 STUDENTS: Students will be at Makino Pool 12.30pm to 2.30pm (approximately).  Mr Mildenhall and Mrs Marshall will be accompanying our Year 5 students participating in this.
  • It is our turn to host assembly this week.  See you there: Friday 9 March - 2.15pm.
